US grand jury indicts hackers

ATLANTA – Eight eastern European men have been indicted by a US federal grand jury for membership of a crime ring accused of a card heist against ATM provider RBS WorldPay. The men are alleged to have hacked into the firm’s computer network to create counterfeit debit cards, allowing the racket to defraud the firm of $9 million over 12 hours in November 2008.
