Panellists at a Basel III conference this morning clashed over whether banks should publish new liquidity ratios in their financial reports now, or wait until the rules are fully fleshed out.

Under Basel III, banks will be required to comply with two new liquidity measures: the liquidity coverage ratio (LCR) and the net stable funding ratio (NSFR). The first is meant to ensure banks have enough high-quality liquid assets to survive a 30-day period of acute market stress, while the other is meant
