Hu takes leave of the SEC

Henry Hu, soon-to-be former head of the SEC’s division of risk, strategy and financial innovation, talks to Alexander Campbell

Henry Hu will this month return to his chair at the University of Texas School of Law after an eventful 16 months at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Washington, DC. In September 2009, he was asked by SEC chairman Mary Schapiro to head the supervisor’s new division of risk, strategy and financial innovation, known as Risk Fin.

In contrast with the SEC’s other four frontline divisions – enforcement, trading and markets, investment management and corporation finance – Risk Fin
