Exemptions for US Treasury trading venues may need review

Rules for US Treasury trading platforms should be reviewed, according to the chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mary Jo White.

The current regime exempts these platforms from some of the requirements that apply to so-called alternative trading systems (ATSs) – a decision taken by the SEC in 1998. White said market conditions had now changed sufficiently for the decision to be revisited.
