BNP Paribas appoints head of equities and derivatives for Americas

French bank BNP Paribas has transferred its deputy global head of equity derivatives to a new role as head of equities and derivatives, Americas.

Amine Belhadj moves from BNP’s global headquarters in Paris to lead the bank’s drive into the US market. He will report to David Brunner, head of BNP’s securities business and Yann Gerardin, global head of equities.

“This appointment brings an additional level of seniority to the management of equities in New York, which is in line with the strategic ambitions we have in this important market,” said Gerardin, who added he sees a growing proportion of global equities business coming from the region.

Belhadj joined BNP in 1997 as head of European equity derivatives. He moved to Paris as deputy global head of equity derivatives in 1999.
