DrKW expands into base metals

Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW) plans to build a base metals principal sales and trading group. It has hired three Koch Supply & Trading staff to set up the unit on March 7.

The Koch trio - Chris Blee, Matthew Forgham and Tom Parkin - will make markets in over-the-counter non-ferrous metals, principally copper and aluminium, but also lead, tin and zinc, in London. They will report to Neil Rothwell, a managing director who joined DrKW last year to head the commodities unit. The latest additions brings the total number of trading staff in DrKW's commodities business to 10.

“In today’s world of strong economic growth, with continuing pressure on traditional investment returns and high commodity price volatility, demand for commodity risk management services or investment opportunities is likely to continue to grow,” said Rothwell.
