Vega recruits US trading head

Vega Asset Management USA, the US branch of Madrid-based hedge fund Vega Asset Management, has hired Rajiv Sobti to head its North American trading operations in New York.

Sobti joins from Blackrock Financial Management, where he was head of fixed income. Before that, he spent 10 years as head of quantitative research at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette.

Sobti will also manage the bond hedge fund, and will report to the chief executive of the US office, Jon Berg.

Vega specialises in trading bonds and macro investments and claims to be the biggest hedge fund in the world. The US branch has $11 billion in assets under management.
