Eurex increases share of Dutch equity options market

Eurex increased its share of the Dutch equity options market tenfold last year, the Swiss-German derivatives exchange said in a statement today.

Eurex said January turnover in its Dutch options section was 518,000 contracts, up 317% from the corresponding time last year. This takes its overall share of the Dutch equity options market from 1% to 10%, said Eurex. The exchange said this was the result of new “liquidity boosting” measures introduced in July.

The measures included extending the maximum term for Dutch equity options to 60 months. Eurex also launched 14 new options on Dutch equities, bringing the total number of share option contracts available to 23.
