Institute of Risk Management appoints King

UK-based educational body and members organisation, the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), has appointed David King as its new executive director. King is on secondment from UK insurer Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) for an initial period of one year.

King has been with R&SA for the past 10 years, most recently as customer relationship manager for its London-based specialist businesses. He is the second senior manager R&SA has seconded to the IRM, following the placement of Steve Fowler, who completed his 15-month secondment this month.

One of King’s first tasks will be completing arrangements for the IRM’s annual residential school, the Risk Forum, which takes place in October.

Created in 1986, the IRM promotes excellence in the practice of risk management through education and technical development. It also promotes technical and ethical good practice by members and has about 1,600 members worldwide.
