Deutsche Börse to commence mutual fund trading

Deutsche Börse will launch trading of actively managed mutual funds next month, in a move aimed at attracting more private investors to the exchange.

The Frankfurt exchange will launch trading in 2,600 actively managed mutual funds on May 19. It already allows trading in active and passive index funds, launched in April 2000 under the XTF segment label. Currently, 117 index funds are traded on the exchange, with a monthly volume of €6.2 billion in March. The funds will be traded on the floor of the Frankfurt stock exchange from 09:00 to 20:00 each day. Deutsche Börse will define minimum quote sizes and maximum spreads.
