BNP Paribas appoints new head of metals within commodity derivatives

BNP Paribas has promoted Russell Plackett to head its metals products business within its commodity derivatives unit.

London-based Plackett, who has worked as a trader on the metals desk at the bank since January 2004, will report to Amine Belhadj, head of commodity derivatives. He previously worked on the metals desk at HSBC.

Belhadj said the appointment will help the French dealer develop its growing metals business. As head of base metals, bullion trading and metals flow sales, Plackett will help the bank develop its metals business on both the traditional flow side as well as its structured products business.
