New chief risk officer for Barclays Wealth

Mark Cooke has been appointed global chief risk officer at Barclays Wealth, the wealth management arm of Barclays Bank.

In this newly created role, Cooke will be based in London and will report to Thomas Kalaris, the firm's chief executive.

Before joining the British bank, Cooke spent 12 years at UBS, where he was most recently chief operational risk officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with responsibility for global risk control within the firm's equity business.

Cooke's former UBS colleague, Colin Bell, has also been hired as head of risk projects, another newly created position. Bell was senior operational risk controller for the investment banking division at the Swiss firm. In his new role he will report to Cooke and will also be based in London.
