Freddie Mac's acting CFO dies
David Kellermann, the acting chief financial officer of US government-supported mortgage buyer Freddie Mac, has died.
The police department of Fairfax County, Virginia - the area where he lived - said his body was discovered in his home in the early hours of this morning. Police are still investigating the incident and the cause of death, but so far have determined there are "no signs of foul play".
John Koskinen, Freddie Mac's interim chief executive, commented: "The Freddie Mac family is truly saddened by the news this morning of David Kellermann's death. We extend our deepest condolences to David's family and loved ones for this terrible personal tragedy."
Kellermann had worked at the firm for more than 16 years, serving in a variety of business and finance capacities before stepping into the acting chief financial officer position in September 2008.
Freddie Mac declined to comment on who would be taking over his responsibilities.
