RMS releases updated Climetrix weather trading system

Risk Management Solutions (RMS), a California-based provider of products and services for the management of natural hazard risk, today released version 4.0 of its Climetrix weather derivatives trading and risk management system.

Climetrix is an internet-based application that provides access to data, pricing tools and portfolio management capabilities required for structuring weather derivatives.

Some of the new features available in Climetrix 4.0 include a user-defined short-term value-at-risk metric for portfolio risk management and a customisable counterparty credit risk report. Climetrix is currently used by a variety of weather traders, including Swiss Re.

"Climetrix is now used by more than half the companies involved in trading weather derivatives in the United States and Europe," said Steve Jewson, director of business development at RMS. "Over the past year we have spent a significant amount of time working with our clients to determine what they need to be more efficient and profitable in their weather businesses. Climetrix 4.0 is the result."
