HSBC poaches CSFB fixed income sextet

HSBC has hired six sales and trading staff from Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), including Patrick Haskell, CSFB’s former head of US interest rate products. Haskell joins HSBC Securities as a managing director and head of its rates business in North America.

Alongside Haskell, HSBC hired Greg Bartoli as a senior government trader, and Cliff Mulry as a treasury inflation-protected securities (TIPS) trader. Both will report to Haskell, who manages sales and trading of US government and agency securities, interest rate swaps and financial futures, and has joint responsibility for repos.

The other three to join HSBC Securities are Michael Furman, Tim Hanson and Joseph McNamara. The latter two join as senior rates salesman, and report jointly to Furman, who is co-head of rates sales alongside Collins.

All of the new hires are based in New York, except Hanson who will be based in Boston.
