BNP strengthens commodity derivatives team

BNP Paribas, the French investment bank, has made several hires in its London-based commodity derivatives trading and marketing division.

Edward Campbell-Gray, formerly of Standard Bank in London, will head the European options books in oil trading. John Rosai, of AEP Energy, will join as a European power trader. Christopher Kenny, from Foundation Energy and Dynergy, joins as a natural gas trader and Souhil Harchaoui, of EDF Trading, joins as an energy structurer in the gas and power group.

The bank expects to make further hires over the next few months in its energy derivatives departments in London, New York and Singapore.

The metals derivatives team has also been expanded, with three new hires. Piers Duggan, of Sempra Metals, joins as a marketer, John Marks joins as a base metals trader and Wei Ming Chen joins the Singapore office to develop the bank’s Asian client business.

Jean-Marc Bonnefous, global head of commodity derivatives at BNP, said the hires illustrated the bank’s commitment to increasing client and product coverage across commodity asset classes.
