Nybot launches market data service

The New York Board of Trade (Nybot) last week launched Nybotlive, which delivers real-time global futures and options data over the internet.

The service comes in two customisable packages, both of which feature charting and analytical tools. The real-time package includes advanced charting such as tiles, overlays and intervals and a customisable page that tracks futures and options prices. A charts section allows users to plot a variety of charts with built-in features and choose from three types of charts at intervals from 15 seconds to monthly.

The commodity options window allows users to enter a base commodity root symbol to view a list of options on that symbol for the month and year specified.

The analytics window displays analytics on a specified symbol and allows users to print both charts and analytics on one letter-sized page.

This package, which comes in either Java or HTML format, is available via www.nybotlive.com for $94 per month or $10 per day per user.

The delayed service has similar content and tools but with slimmed down charts and a 30-minute lag time on the data. It is free and only requires the user to register at the site.

The global futures and options markets have traditionally relied upon open pit trading and for negotiating prices for our products, a Nybot spokesperson said. But Nybotlive allows anyone with an internet connection direct access to what happens on the trading floor as the prices are determined.

Nybot’s market prices originate in the trading pits, where price reporters enter pricing data directly into hand-held wireless computers as the trades are being executed. The data is sent to Nybot’s mainframe computers and out to customers via the internet. With the new Nybotlive service, these prices are also sent out simultaneously to the Nybot website.
