Deutsche Bank hires Gulf head

Deutsche Bank has hired Nicholas Hegarty as head of banking for the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) region.

He will be based in Dubai and report to Philip Southwell, head of banking for central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The post is new and designed to develop Deutsche Bank’s business in the GCC, which comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Hegarty was formerly chief executive of the Dubai International Financial Centre branch of Barclays Bank. He was also head of Africa and the Middle East at their investment banking arm, Barclays Capital.
