London-based voice and electronic brokerage BGC Partners has appointed its own chief financial officer for the first time.
Robert West has been named as replacement to former chief financial officer Douglas Barnard. Barnard is also chief financial officer for New York-based financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald, and will continue in this role. BGC Partners was spun off from Cantor Fitzgerald in August 2004.West was previously responsible for financial management, controlling and reporting at San Francisco-based investment bank Thomas Weisel Partners. He has also served as global controller at Barclays Global Investors and in senior positions at Salomon Smith Barney. At BGC, he will report to chief executive Lee Amaitis and will be based in London.
