BNP hires Citi forex options head

BNP Paribas has hired a number of foreign exchange employees from rivals Citigroup and Barclays Capital, as the French bank continues a drive to increase its presence in the US and Europe.

Andrew Goldberg, formerly Citigroup's head of forex options and global head of correlation trading, will join BNP Paribas’ New York office in the third quarter as managing director and North American head of forex options. He will report to London-based Hubert de Lambilly, global head of forex options.John Chase also joins from Citigroup, where he spent 10 years, most recently as a director covering UK corporates and financial institutions. He will be responsible for UK and Ireland corporate derivatives at the French bank’s London office. He will also have forex and debt capital markets reporting to him, as the bank builds regional coverage teams to focus on client needs. Chase reports locally to Clive Banks, head of foreign exchange sales for the European corporate group.Completing the departures from Citigroup to BNP is Stelios Papadopoulos, who was head of rates and currencies for Greece in Athens. He takes up a new post as head of fixed income for corporates in Greece, having mainly forex and derivatives responsibilities. He remains in Athens.
