Overmars to head ABN financial markets

Piero Overmars has stepped up from his role as ABN Amro’s head of global financial markets in Japan, to become the Dutch bank’s global head of global financial markets, based in Amsterdam. He replaces Nils Lorenzen, who has resigned for personal reasons. Lorenzen will, however, stay at ABN, and a spokesman said his new role will be announced shortly.

Overmars will officially take up the reigns on April 11. The global financial markets business covers foreign exchange, derivatives and money markets.

Prior to serving as ABN’s country representative and head of financial markets in Japan, Overmars was the Singapore-based regional head of treasury and fixed income for Asia from July 1999, and global co-head of interest rate trading from May 1997.
