As the US Treasury’s special master for executive compensation, Kenneth Feinberg has the task of overseeing pay for the top 100 employees at firms receiving exceptional government aid. In an exclusive interview, he discusses progress on pay reform, compensation structures and outrage over bank bonuses. By Mark Pengelly
Kenneth Feinberg is used to being in the spotlight. The Washington, DC-based lawyer has helped resolve disputes regarding the use of Agent Orange in Vietnam and the flawed Dalkon Shield contraceptive device. More recently, Feinberg served as special master of the September 11 Victim Compensation Fund and administrator for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, which was set up following the Virginia Tech massacre of April 2007.
