Fed reassures US banks on adverse scenario choice criteria

The US Federal Reserve Board has released scenarios for its 2015 capital adequacy tests – and some reassurance for worried banks on capital raising obligations

The US Federal Reserve has eased the 'adverse' scenario for the next round of capital adequacy stress tests under the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) programme, and reassured banks that they will be granted more latitude on meeting any shortfalls it discloses.

The CCAR stress tests will take place later this year, with banks due to report results – including plans to repair any shortfalls found – by January 5, 2015. Future rounds of tests, however, will be delayed by three
