Dodd-Frank is forcing regulators to proceed at "extraordinary pace" – SEC's Henry Hu

The departing head of the risk division at the SEC talks about the difficulty of bringing the regulator up to the level of the rest of the industry in terms of calibre of staff and awareness of product innovation.

At the beginning of the year, Henry Hu returned to his chair at the University of Texas School of Law after an eventful 16 months at the US Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC. In September 2009, he was asked by SEC chairman Mary Schapiro to head the supervisor’s new division of risk, strategy and financial innovation, known as Risk Fin.
