Nazareth rues "lost opportunity" to merge SEC and CFTC

The US Treasury’s decision not to merge the two regulatory agencies that may soon share oversight of the over-the-counter derivatives market has been decried as a “lost opportunity” by a former senior policymaker at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Addressing delegates at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (Sifma) fixed income legal and compliance conference in New York, former SEC commissioner Annette Nazareth, a partner at law firm Davis Polk, pointed out
