LDCE: Banks making 'considerable progress'

BASEL - Banks have made "considerable progress" in the collection and use of internal loss data, according to a recent paper from the Bank for International Settlements' subgroup on operational risk (Sigor).

The paper, entitled Results from the 2008 Loss Data Collection Exercise for operational risk (LDCE) was published in July, simultaneously with another paper on the range of practice. Some 121 banks from 17 countries participated in the LDCE survey.

Officials say there was strong interest
