Capital markets growth spurs Brazil's enforcement drive

RIO DE JANEIRO - The global focus on enforcement has reached Brazil, driven by an increase in capital markets growth, and regulators are busy devising new rules and structures. Earlier this year, Brazil became the biggest single component of the MSCI Emerging Market index and last year accounted for 10% of all global initial public offerings, with foreigners accounting for 70% of the interest.
