Beacon adds CEO and sales chief

David Weisberger has joined Beacon Capital Markets, which operates an MBS e-trading platform, as co-CEO, working alongside founder Norman Epstein.

In 1994, Weisberger founded Watch Hill Management Partners LLC, an investment management company for the Watch Hill mortgage derivative hedge funds. The firm’s assets grew to more than $1 billion over the next 12 years, with average net returns of more than 20% a year.

In addition, John Knox has joined Beacon Capital Markets as the firm’s first managing director of sales and marketing. In this role he will oversee all sales and support functions and will seek to build up the sales team.

John Knox has 22 years of investment experience, and was previously a managing director in the institutional equities division at Bear Stearns, where he worked on developing an electronic trading platform for equities. He has also worked as a fixed income trader for Eastbridge Capital, for Wertheim Schroder and for Manufacturers Hanover.

Both Knox and Weisberger will be based in New York.
