Harvard nabs El-Erian from Pimco

Mohamed El-Erian, a leading light in emerging market investing and a recent candidate to run the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is set to join Harvard University early next year to run its $25.9 billion endowment.

El-Erian succeeds Jack Meyer in the role of president and CEO of Harvard Management Company (HMC) after Meyer stepped down at the end of September.

Meyer, who presided over a five-fold increase in the size of the endowment in his 15 years there, and several colleagues
