Bear merges European debt and equity origination

Bear Stearns’ European division is merging its debt and equity origination groups into a new capital markets group.

Mark Moffat, head of collateralised debt obligation origination, will lead the new group in addition to his current responsibilities. He will continue to be based in London. Bear Stearns said the change was designed to serve client demand for a “co-ordinated, multi-product approach”.

Moffat’s is one of a number of senior moves that have followed Michel Péretié’s appointment as Bear Stearns International’s chief executive in September. (See: Bear Stearns chairman becomes Europe boss)
