HSBC appoints London head of structuring for conduit securitisation

HSBC has appointed Craig Squire as head of structuring for London conduit securitisation, which involves the repackaging and securitisation of a number of asset pools via a single company, rather than the traditional use of special-purpose vehicles.

Squire is a lawyer with several years' experience advising investment banks on their use of credit derivatives, including total return swaps and synthetic collateralised debt obligations. He joins HSBC from Norton Rose, a London law firm, which he joined in 1997.

Squire will be responsible for all structuring and deal execution at HSBC’s first hybrid asset-backed commercial paper vehicle, Regency Assets.

“In view of Regency’s evolution as HSBC’s pan-European client conduit serving our primary relationships’ securitisation needs, Craig’s expertise will be invaluable in ensuring concise deal transition from mandate to closing,” said Tony Gioulis, pan-European head of HSBC’s conduit securitisation. Gioulis added that Squire’s derivatives experience will be particularly useful because some of the asset pools that require financing may include derivatives.
