Barclays appoints Diamond to board

Bob Diamond, one of the architects of Barclays Capital's derivatives business, was formally appointed to the board of the Barclays Group today, and takes on the additional role of group president.

Diamond, who is chief executive of investment banking and investment management at Barclays Capital, reports directly to group chief executive, John Valley.

Since joining Barclays in 1996, Diamond has played a pivotal role in the development of the firm's fixed income and derivatives businesses. Barclays Capital was Risk’s derivatives house of the year in 2005.

Prior to joining Barclays, Diamond was head of global fixed income and foreign exchange at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB).
