StanChart appoints new global head of rates and forex

Mike Bass, Standard Chartered’s head of interest rate derivatives, has been promoted to global head of rates and foreign exchange.

In his new role, Singapore-based Bass will take on responsibility for the foreign exchange business, including spot, forwards, options and non-deliverable forwards, on top of his previous interest rate derivatives responsibilities.

The newly created position follows the departure of Jared Chase, former head of global markets trading and sales. Under the new structure, Chase’s role has effectively been split into two positions. The bank’s regional treasurers will now report to London-based Pamela McGann, while Bass will oversee both the sales and trading teams for rates and forex.
