OpRisk Asia: Adachi warns again on AMA inconsistencies

Bank of Japan director Mitsutoshi Adachi highlights the danger of variations in the use of risk models at OpRisk Asia conference

The keynote speaker at the OpRisk Asia conference in Singapore, the Bank of Japan's Mitsutoshi Adachi, warned today that inconsistencies in implementing the Basel advanced measurement approach (AMA) for operational risk capital could undermine the intent of the Basel rules.

Earlier this year at the OpRisk North America conference in New York, Adachi – who is also chairman of the Basel Committee's operational risk subgroup of the standards implementation group (Sigor) – said that inconsistencies
