Zoellick to leave World Bank

President will step down at end of current term

World Bank president Robert Zoellick is to step down when his current term ends on June 30.

Zoellick became president in 2007 after the resignation of his predecessor Paul Wolfowitz. Wolfowitz stepped down after he was discovered to have ordered preferential treatment on pay and promotions for his partner, also a bank employee.

Before taking leadership of the World Bank, Zoellick held various other political posts. He was US deputy secretary of state from 2005 to 2006, US trade representative
