SEC proposes Web access of proxy material

– The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed to amend its proxy rules to allow electronic transmission of annual proxy materials.

In a November 29, 2005 unanimous vote, it decided to allow corporate issuers to post proxy materials online, which could save companies as much as $1 billion a year. By allowing other persons than the company to use the internet to solicit proxies, the proposed rule change would also make it easier to mount
