Half of the time it now takes for Evergreen Investments to restore its data in its offsite data center is spent driving to the disaster recovery site.

When Mitch Hodus joined the tech staff of Evergreen Investments, the Boston-based asset manager with more than $229 billion in assets under management for institutional and individual investors, the firm needed anywhere from 36 to 48 hours to restore 150GB of data stored on tape to a single server.
