Banks Use Forum To Share Best Risk Practices

NEW YORK--A consortium of 12 large international banks has formed a policy group to develop best practices for market and credit risk management in the wake of the emerging markets and hedge fund blow-ups during the third quarter 1998.

The group, called the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group, is co-chaired by E. Gerald Corrigan and Stephen Thieke. Corrigan is managing director and co-chair of the firm-wide risk committee at Goldman Sachs, and Thieke has just announced a summer retirement
