FSA highlights hedge fund market abuse concerns

In its latest Market Watch newsletter, the FSA has identified areas of control to be considered by hedge fund managers when managing market abuse risk

LONDON – After a series of visits to a cross-section of hedge funds, the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) has raised concerns about the low level of awareness regarding market abuse issues and the lack of appropriate systems and controls in place. Some of the firms the FSA visited demonstrated a complacent attitude to the risks of market abuse, it says in its Market Watch newsletter. As a result, the authority has launched a programme of visits to a wider cross-section of hedge fund
