Asian markets and their exchange hubs are turning algorithmic-friendly and increasing the efficiency of their IT systems to the hedge fund community as managers demand more of them.

John Bates, founder and vice president of Apama Products at Progress Software, says that, typically, when managers trade in Asia's markets with algorithms, "people will say there are only a few instruments that are very liquid there".
