Strategy shows strong performance during economic downturn

UK long/short equity as a strategy has the potential to perform well in a downturn, according to Colin McLean, managing director of SVM.

The company runs SVM Highlander, a European equity long/short fund that has returned an average of 14% over the last nine years and is now running at around 9% up to date for 2008.

This potential to do well gives McLean confidence in the strategy and its ability to continue to perform for him over the coming months.
