With an industry that increased by $139bn in 2004 to $934bn1 and an institutionalisation of the client base, hedge funds are set to get bigger.

The pressure on hedge-fund administration organisations has increased dramatically in the last 12 to 18 months on the back of significant growth in numbers of funds under administration, together with increased asset levels and trading volumes.

This rapid growth has encouraged many long-only fund administrators to diversify into the administration of hedge
