British Virgin Islands keen to attract more business

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is the world’s largest offshore corporate domicile. There are close to 500,000 international companies registered in the jurisdiction.

Of these around 3,000 are hedge funds, making the BVI the world’s second-largest offshore hedge fund domicile, behind only the Cayman Islands.

Although the jurisdiction recently increased its annual regulatory fees for professional and private funds to $1,000 for the first time since the Mutual Funds Act came into force in 1996, the BVI remains less expensive than the Cayman Islands.
