CFTC may alter stance on physical gas deals
Agency expected to respond to natural gas industry fears about Dodd-Frank swap definition
Sources say it is likely the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will alter its stance on the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act, by reversing provisions that could see contracts for physical gas storage and transportation being treated as swaps.
“I understand that the CFTC is going to issue some guidance that may alleviate the problem and enable people to treat those contracts as something other than options. And I hear that may come out next week,” says one New York-based lawyer
