Dr Daniel Yergin, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Prize and chairman of Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), discusses changes in the energy markets over the past 15 years with Pauline McCallion

What were you doing 15 years ago?

In 1994 I was working hard at Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) and we had just done an eight-hour PBS/BBC TV version of The Prize. I also took on the chairmanship of the US Department of Energy's Task Force on Strategic Energy Research and Development.

What prompted your recent update of The Prize?

It was very challenging to pinpoint what has changed in the industry since the 1990s, when this magazine was launched. But I felt there were really four
