Smart beta indexes gain currency with Asian investors

Despite some high-profile failures banks and index providers are bullish about the potential for these structures in Asia

It isn't an overstatement to say that the universe of indexes has exploded in recent years with many more of these instruments now available from a host of providers including specialist index providers, asset managers and banks. Whether it's termed smart, strategic or enhanced beta, the meaning is the same and all attempt to dazzle investors with the latest technology to systematically extract outperformance from the market.
