Tim Mortimer analyses the supply of public market structured products in the US and UK, finding that Barclays Bank is the only institution that is a top three issuer in each country. Leveraged return notes were the most issued product by notional, while capital-at-risk autocallables were the instrument of choice in the UK

Bank of America led the notional issuance of structured products in the US in February, providing $267 million of supply for a 17% share of the $1.54 billion issued. In all, 382 new public issues were registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in February, at an average of $4.03 million per product. Barclays Bank was close behind with $248 million of notional and a 16% share in the market; third spot was taken by HSBC with $236 million in new structures.
