Stoxx launches blue-chip indexes for Asia and North America

Stoxx has launched a series of blue-chip indexes in an effort to extend its flagship European blue-chip methodology to the North American and Asia-Pacific regions.

Index provider Stoxx is extending its blue-chip European flagship indexes to North America and Asia-Pacific with the launch of three new indexes: the Stoxx North America 50, the Stoxx Asia/Pacific 50 and the Stoxx Global 150.

"We haven't created a new methodology - we have applied a methodology that is very well accepted in Europe to those other regions," says Konrad Sippel, executive director and head of sell side at Stoxx in Zurich.

Sippel says that the indexes were launched to enable
