Seeking simplicity

As the Benelux region’s structured product market emerges shaken from the global financial crisis, a focus on education is needed to rebuild investor confidence and to make sure structured products are being sold in an appropriate manner. Clare Dickinson reports from Structured Products’ 2010 conference for the Benelux region

Investor confidence in structured products has been severely hit by the crisis and it is still recovering; investors are still risk averse and concerned about counterparty risk. What is needed to boost recovery is more education, simpler products and more focus on what the client needs, which may all seem like common sense solutions, but these ideals are not being met, as was discussed at the Structured Products conference for the Benelux region in Amsterdam on June 2, 2010.
