The pension reform proposals currently working their way through US Congress may lead to an increase in the sale of the equity tranches of collateralised debt obligations (CDOs) to employee benefit plan investors. While both chambers of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate, have passed bills, conference committee negotiations have been slow in reconciling the two initiatives, and it is not certain whether comprehensive legislation will be implemented
